Dual Ddr

Can someone simply explain dual DDR ram. I understand it has twice the bandwith, and its supported by various mobo's, what i dont understand is how to get it, is it a special purchase, or do u need 2 dimm's....
Secondly, i was reading a few post below about a 300watt psu running a asus mobo and it got me thinking, im currently buying a ..

run by a 400W PSU.... am i up S*#t creek ?

hmmm,..with that setup...300 watt psu is to small..give it a 500 watt'r or more
