Hard drive making funny noise

I just realized that the blue screens started showing up pretty soon after I installed sp2 for my win xp home edition. could that have anything to do with my problem?

SP2 causes alot of issues, try to uninstall it. I don't know if it helps though. SP2 screwed up my neighbours comp pretty bad, uninstall didn't help.

I also just realized that I did change my settings from 1024x768 to 1152x864 right about the same time this problem started. Could this extra stress on my video do that much to make it shut down my computer like this? Also, what do most of you have your resolution set at, (mine goes all the way to 1280x1024)?

Mine goes up to 1600x1200 but I do not think that is causing your problems.
