It was built for someone else. My personal computer is much nicer. It's an xp2700, 512MB corsair XMS, NEC 3500 dual layer, Prolink Nvidia 5600 FX, asus A7N8X DLX, Antec PLUS1080AMG case /w TruePower 430W PSU. . . . . . .but the most impressive thing about my computer is how much pr0n I have on it :)

pr0n is a good thing :)

by the way, i'm looking to upgrade my XP 2400's video card from it's failing FX5200. How much did the 5600 set you back and how well do you like it? Since the AMD is my back up computer basically, I only want to spend 100 bucks USD on it.

He is not going to need dual channel. Sure, it would be nice, but everything is nice. It really matters if you need it or not. If this is a budget system, then he will not need dual channel. Dual channel isn't very helpful on AMD systems as they aren't bandwith hogs like Intel systems. That is why, a socket 754 Athlon 64 3700+ performs just as well as the FX-53 (939) for much less. The A7V8X-X is a very good motherboard for the buck and it is designed very nicely. It is easy to hookup and cables, thank God, can be put in the right place unlike my Abit AA8-Duramax where I have to twist cables to put them in drives because of the bad placement of the IDE controller.

Overall, that board should serve you very nicely.

you won't notice much difference between an fx5600 and a 5200 unless yours is the LE or "crippled edition". If it's a backup comp I wouldn't bother to upgrade it. not sure what it cost me a year ago, these are cards around 100 that would be better than an fx5600 probably:

do you absolutely need it, sure you are right that it performs just as well as an fx5200, but $102?

you would be much better off with a 9600 pro or something like that
