First and foremost i would like to say thanks for the admin of this forum and Hi to all members.

I was a year-old member of PCguide (pcguide.com) but just lately and i dont know for what reason, i cant anymore browse the said website. You know guys, forums like this truly deserves such respect for it helps us alot in many ways.

without further ado, i wanna ask something about Mac OS since im a newbie with this OS.

-Can i dual boot a MaC OS and a windows OS in a Windows-based platform?

-Is it possible to load a MAC OS on ordinary PC?

-If yes, does someone here knows a site that can teach me do stuff like these?

again thank you so much.

more power to this forum.

dear newbie, I have answers to all of your questions.

You CANNOT dual boot the Mac OS and Windows on a PC platform. PC's are not equipped with the ability to do this.

It is possible to download a lookalike version of Mac OS X for PC, I do not however know where this is done.

There is software out there that will allow you to run Mac OS X and Windows 95-XP on a Mac Platform. It is called Virtual PC. You will have to order this software from one of many resellers.

Hope I could be of some help

Thanks for your response.

You see, i have here a MAC OS X installer (given by a friend) but im afraid i dont have enough money to buy an Imac for that matter.
I heard sometime that its possible to load a Mac OS on PC and i would be very glad if someone could assist me on how to do this.

peace!

Hmm, your dillemma is a unique one.
If you have the ability and do not really care what happens to your PC,(yeah right) back up your entire system, try whatever you think is necessary to install the Mac OS X, and if it doesnt work, then you'll always have your backups. While your at it, a clean install of Windows would help.
Sorry I can't be of more help.:(

EDIT: Oh, btw. There are places to get good used iMac and other Macs for the use of OS X. An new eMac might run you a good $1000. A used iMac like mine could go for $500 or even less.

THANKS YO

buying an imac is not yet on my list. budget constraint, i do have a PC and several excess parts like HDD and stuff.
if its possible to install that Mac OS on my PC, i wouldnt bother to buy a new or used Mac.

Anyone?

again thanks.

It is not possible. MacOSX and all other MAC operating systems are compiled for mac hardware only and will not install on PC hardware. End of story.

WHOAH!! hold the phone!! Just finished surfing my fav. Mac sites and I have good news for you! There is a group that is testing Mac OS X on a Pentium 4 based PC, no word yet as to how far they've gotten or if it's even possible yet. Stay tuned
