Video Card Question

I just bought a ASUS desktop computer with Windows 7. The motherboard is a AMD A8-5500. I would like to upgrade the video card for light gaming (first person shooters shooters). I currently have the standard VGA graphics adapter AMD ATOMBIOS 8bit. Can someone please help me choose a compatible graphics card?

As long as you have a PCI-E slot on your motherboard, your options are pretty open.

The Radeon and GeForce series are pretty great, and the newer GTX models are as well.

Personally, I'm running a Radeon 7770, and have yet to find a game I can't play in full (Crysis 3 on Ultra is gorgeous).

What kind of budget are you looking at? There's plenty of cards in the sea but it depends on what you want to spend. Also, what can you give us as far as a model of PC or what power supply you have?

Depends on his power supply really. Anything he's running is bound to have PCI-e but a less than stellar PSU.

You only have a 350w PSU so you are very limited to what you can put in there. I would say the highest I would go is a 7770.

I Just want to iterate that the reason I haven't linked anything for you yet is because I want to know what you want to do. I know you said light gaming, but that's pretty vague in terms of how broad light gaming can be. For your budget, the best way to go would be conserve your PSU and get a lower end card like the 7770 or 6770. They are weak, and don't do too well with modern games but you won't get much of an upgrade if you buy a quality PSU with most of your money. Bout 60 bucks for a good PSU, then 140 left for the GPU.

TY. Is the AMD Radeon Hd 7770 GHz Edition relatively easy to install? I usually don't mess with hardware unless it is memory or taking out my hard drive, etc.
