Hello, Tech forums.
I was recently given a perfect new desktop, which was given away to me as the owner couldn't connect to the internet and was frustrated. (He's well off financially anyway)
The problem is that:
It doesn't detect the etnernet cable.
The cable definitely DOES work, as I am using the exact same cable to connect on another computer, all other computers in the house can connect to the internet and can connect via said cable too.
The "solutions" I've tried, but to no avail are:
Restarting the computer.
Updating driver via removable media after downloading from another computer
However, this one worked.
Device manager > Network adaptor > Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet Properties> Advanced > Speed & Duplex > change value from auto to 100mbs full duplex.
I could go on the internet, everything was fine.
Then i left the computer for a few hours as I was busy, then it wouldn't turn back on so I force shut it down.
The problem is back, however the solution that worked before doesn't work anymore. I've tried setting it back to "auto" as well.
I've tried restarting multiple times.
However, it still doesn't detect the ethernet cable.
Please help me tech forums. Thanks for reading
