Gateway E-6300

Hello everyone,

I work IT for a University and need a new graphics card for the a Gateway E-6300 . It is PCI-E x16. I am looking at replacing the card which was a ATI RADEON X600 Pro, with Radeon HD 5450,
or this one
Radeon HD 5450
Can anyone confirm that this will work?

The Gateway pc shows a 305 watt power supply and ATI recommends a 400 watt power supply for that card

Any suggestions on a replacement card? My boss asked me to find a solution. I have looked but most of the cards seem to demand more power.

It sounds like you don't want to replace the power supply?
You have this as an option Biostar GeForce 8600GTS 256MB DDR3 PCI Express (PCIe) Dual Biostar VR8603TS21 GeForce 8600GTS
Or you could step up to a Radeon HD 4350.
Don't put a lot of money into this...

We are trying to keep the PC running for a graduate student to use. We aren't going to spend much so changing the power supply is not an option. I appreciate the help. Sorry I forgot to mention it needs to have a VGA output.

You need to go up in generations to lower power consumption.
