Ok so i problem i have is that whenever i have the graphics card ( 3G AMD radeon 7950) plugged in to the power it won't show up on the monitor even when i have the video cable plugged in directly.
The graphics card is working as all 3 fans are spinning.
I have tried most things like fiddling with the BIOS and making the PCI slot the first GPU to go to as i have an onboard graphics card, but to no avail. Could it be i need an upgrade of cable even though it works fine without the graphics card? and suggestions for fix would be greatly appreciated :)

Most video cards have multiple video ports. Have you tried a different port? Maybe the one you're using isn't the default one.
Another thing you can do is to boot the PC with the monitor plugged into the onboard graphics port. You can to go into display settings, disable the onboard graphics port and then plug your monitor back into the other video card.

Can you disable the onboard graphics from your bios? What about with a jumper?
