Laptop Noise?

Hi,

My Dell Studio Laptop Model 1535 makes a loud noise sometimes. People have suggested, online, that it could be the hard drive going bad, or the fan. Could there be another reason for this periodic noise issue. All answers will be appreciated.

In addition, the battery is on the way out. Needs replacement.

What does it sound like? Can you tell where it's coming from?
