Dde Server Not Responding

I'm running windows xp proffesional, and cable modem...
the other night my connection was really slow, very unusual, couldnt connect to even icq... i decided to restart, when I did, the "program not responding" dialog came up, and it was for "DDE SERVER" what is dde server, and why would it be on??? I have the latest anti-virus software, along with spybot search&destroy, and spywareguard..... and none of them found anything........

DDE server, is some sort of module that came from 3.1, stayed throughout XP, and can be shown in the file types dialog box. Its some sort of Dynamic Data Exchange, and i haven't really messed with it that much.
