Hello All,

I am cleaning up and old laptop and have done the basics which include defrag, virus sweeps, compressing the hard drive, and using CCleaner for the all around clean up of old unwanted files. The laptop takes long shutting down and booting. Any ideas anyone?

Fresh install, disable all background tasks and boot up programs.

I would get an SSD.

I actually don't have the money to buy anything. Know of any open sourced sites where I can finish troubleshooting?
