Dedicated graphics card question

For a laptop, can someone please explain to me what a dedicated graphics card is, and how I find out if a laptop has one when I am reading the specs?

For the purposes of this question, I am looking for a pre-built laptop I can use for gaming, not one that I have built.

Dedicatd graphics cards are ether built on the mobo, or as a mini pci-e card.

They run their own memory so they are better.

If the specs usually will list a card number. Like a gt640 etc.

If it says "Intel" its onboard
