Hello everybody!

My current PC (but not for long), is misbehaving. The BIOS setup claims a boot password, and I have it enabled, but when the computer boots there's no prompt for a password. Now I know it is not a setup password; because that is an entirely different option; and currently I have both selected. I've tried them seperate, and the boot password does not work in any case. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this? It is a relatively older machine and unfortunately a prebuilt one. Specs are below:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.2GHz
Motherboard: A8AE-LE Amberline
Installed RAM: 3GB
HDD: 250GB x2
Graphics: ATI Radeon Xpress 200
OS: Windows XP

I recently updated the BIOS to the most recent version but even in previous versions the boot password feature did not work. So again, any ideas on what could be the issue?
