i got tis acer travelmate 2480 laptop for free and been trying to fix it to use it for my car.

when i first started it the keyboard worked. but some juice was spilled on it.

after a day or so one key stopped working. then another and another.

now theres about 5-6 keys that dont work.

i tried different keyboard and it had 2 keys non working as well..

the problem is.

letter A seems to be stuck.
the laptop beeps on startup like a key is pressed and held.
in start menu te "a" key starts typing in search untill i move the keyboard
but when i try to press the a key it doesnt work although it worked about 5 minutes ago. now it also doesnt work.

i have no idea why it is happening. they seem to be dropping like flies.

That's why it's happening. Electronics + liquid don't play nice ;).

Replace the keyboard or disconnect it and use a USB or wireless keyboard.

Try uninstalling / reinstalling the keyboard from device manager. Otherwise, I still stand by my previous suggestions.

is there a microcontroller inside the keyboard plate or is it just plastic circuit board?

I would assume just a circuit board, but I can't say that I've taken a laptop keyboard apart.

Just unhook the laptop keyboard, plug in a USB keyboard, and see if you still get issues.

lol i got bored and took the keyboard apart completely.
saparated all 3 layers of circuit board only to find it absolutely clean and no burned traces not even corrosion anywhere. no juice or sticky ever got in there.

the buttons were just dying one by one likea disease.
some would be stuck and then when i press they dont work..
even when post screen loading it would beep like a stuck buton.

i tried another keyboard and it had different keys not working but it was also missing some buttons so i didnt get it.

while at the pc shop i noted how many acer laptops he had in garbage bin. so i ll just keep this one for pars in case i get a laptop with no hard drive or something...

3 for 3 dead for acers that i owned for very short periods of time(mostly a week or two
