Few quick questions, do you have equipment from a previous setup that you plan on using with the mobo-cpu (Ram, HD, video cards?). Also, any size preference for mobo and do you have a specific purpose set in mind for what you are building this for? Really, any additional information would be great. - Rube

Unfortunately, I do not live by a microcenter. These products are going to be used to enhance my gameplay on video games.

4gigs of ram
intel core 2 duo 2.20ghz ( lol)
geforce 8600 gtx
in a Dell Vostro 200
(planning on getting a new case soon)
unsure of my current mobo.
anything else?

Depending on what games you play, a GPU upgrade will benefit you more for the time being depending on what PSU you have.

I would like to play more Planetside 2 while getting good frames but I d/c and lag pretty hard with my res set 2 notches below my screen's full size and running everything at low-medium. Was recommended the Geforce 650 ti a bit.

Well like I said, GPU upgrade depends on what PSU you currently have and its wattage. If your PSU is decent for the money you could get a GTX 660 instead.
