Looking for laptop for Grandfather.

My Grandfather is looking for a nice new laptop just do use casually, he has some old compaq presario pc that is a few years old, but its incredibly slow yet has nothing on it and was barely used, it also takes 10 minutes to load up enough to use..

Mainly hes going to be surfing the web, uploading pictures and stuff, emailing people, ya know, normal things. So it doesn't have to be special. Screen size isn't important either, hes 65 so a 15 inch screen should be fine for his old eyes

His price range is around 6-700$ MAX. I didn't want to suggest anything to him myself, i figured ide ask some professionals first so if anyone has any suggestions i would be glad to check them out.

i would try to find one with a big screen, say 17ish inches but not 1920x1080. seasoned citizens tend not to have the best eyes and its easier to have less pixels and an apparent bigger icons/font/stuff.

is he used to win 7? or would it be just as easy to get him started on metro for win 8?

does he have wireless internet?

i mean.... you pretty know everything he needs.

He won't need anything higher than an i3 really. And 4GB RAM should be plenty. Go for Intel if you can

good point. he's going to need that performance playing solitaire. those flying cards at the end are pretty demanding on a system.
