Western Digital Elements Drive not spinning

You'll need to remove the actual drive from the casing. It'll probably have SATA connectors, so you'll need to hook it up to internal SATA cables inside your computer or through a SATA to USB adapter.

But If i remove the actual drive, wont the platters be exposed to the dirt particles and then corrupt?

You're not taking apart the drive, you're just taking apart the plastic MyBook enclosure. Did you already remove the drive from the plastic case that it came in? If you just have the bare hard drive now, then just hook it up to a computer either internally or via SATA-to-USB adapter.

I have already taken it out of the casing. I am trying the freezer trick now. hopefully it would work..otherwise i'll try the SATA - to USB cable.

But the point of using the SATA to USB cable is that the USB cable isnt enough to power the drive?

Ok so freezing the drive didnt work :/

But how is it possible that the same cable that was able to power the drive perfectly fine is not able to power it anymore.??
