I was looking to build a new rig, mostly for gaming, thus I was thinking an AMD. Most of the hardware would come off of my old rig, like the memory, HardDrives, and Optical Drives, but i need some help picking out a new mobo and CPU. I would also like to get a new Video card. Budgetwise, I am looking at about $1200-1500. leaning toward the ATI AIW9800XT. Help.

whew you got $1200-$1500 to spend on just the mobo, cpu and video card? If that's the case then you can get damn near top of the line in each category. MSI Neo2-Platinum socket 939 board or ABit AV8-3rd Eye socket 939 board, each are about $125...skipping to the graphics card I'd say get the eVGA 6800GT 256mb card as it can easily be OC'd to and possibly post 6800Ultra speeds and even if you didn't OC it would be a killer gaming card, that's $400 so that's $525 lets round up to $550 just for taxes sake and that leaves $650-950 left which means you could get anything from a

AMD 64 3800+

All the way up to a FX-53

Or even top of the line, the FX-55

What kind of memory do you have? Because with a system like that I'd suggest a 1gb kit of high performance low latency memory ;)

same here, u wnt fast memory. lol that would be funny to have all that nice stuff sitting on 256MB PC2100:eek:

Ive got 3x512MB PC3200, Not sure if thats enough, but it has been working pretty well on my old rig

Yeah that'll do perfect, no sense in going and buying high performance PC3200 when you've already got that much resting in your system. Just not worth the price to get rid of those 3 sticks, so yeah you're good to go.

I was realy hoping to get an All-In-Wonder, but there are a few different kinds, and I do not see the difference, except the price. Should I look at any one of them harder? I do a lot of TV Recording and Rip a bunch of DVD's. That PC is going to be used as a gaming rig and an entertainment center, because I've got the projector running off of it.

you can get a good pci tv card with the spare money left over, and it won't cost alot of money.
