Wrong forum, MODS, please move to Networking.....
Anyways. Personally, I wouldn't do that. The cables that you are looking at are most likely INDOOR cables. For something like this, unless you are going to also put in a conduit between the rooms (which will look hideous) you will want to use an outdoor rated cable.
As far as the work, do you own the house, or live with your parents? If the latter, I would HIGHLY recommend deferring to them before going and doing anything. If you own the house, I would run the cables in the walls. At my old house, I cabled the house, and it was well worth it.
Technically, if distance is the only thing you are worried about, Ethernet is good for 100 meters, which is over 300 feet. (Feel lazy, and I am not going to look up the conversion, sorry.)
[EDIT]
After a brief look, I am not sure that Newegg offers any outdoor rated cable. Again, this was a brief search, and I couldn't find anything rated for 'Exterior' or 'Outdoor', so I would be wary of that.
Here is what you will be looking at for outdoor cable.

Also, if you have a basement, you could also run the cable down to the basement, over to wherever you need it, and then back up, instead of going strictly through the walls.
