Hello,

Last night I purchased the Windows 8 upgrade and before I install it, I want to format my PC -- clean it fresh of malicious software and trojans (I believe I have one which ACG has not been able to fix).

I want to know what's the best way to format my PC clean of programs, viruses, etc. so I can have a fresh start with installing Windows 8?

Is factory restore the best option??

Thanks for the help.

Do a clean install by booting from the Windows DVD. It'll come up with a drive screen and you can format there before doing the install.

Since I bought the upgrade through the web, I downloaded the installation to a flash drive. Will installing Windows through the drive give me the same option? It asked me if I wanted to keep personal files -- I said yes. I assume I should have said no?
