Nvidia GT 650M troubles

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 with a Nvidia GT650M video card, which I got in June, and whenever I enter a game to play, It loops whatever audio happens to be playing, and eventually it black screens, and I have to ctr-alt-dlt out of it. Also, a popup window in the bottom right pops up and says "Display driver kernel xxx.xx stopped working, and has recovered."

I believer my current driver is 295.63, which is an older version I know, but I heard it might fix it, which it didn't. I tried the Beta drivers from nvidia.com, to no avail. I tried underclocking the GPU using nvidia inspector, but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I used ccleaner to clean registry files, but it still doesn't work.

If anyone has any advice I would be so grateful to hear it! My graphics card is basically unusable right now, and It sucks!

The game I'm trying to play is Team fortress 2, if it matters.
