How good is windows 7 at recognizing the hardware and installing proper drivers? Isn't it supposed to recognize the hardware you have anyway.

How good is windows 7 at recognizing the hardware and installing proper drivers? Isn't it supposed to recognize the hardware you have anyway.

Recognizing it and having drivers is 2 different things. 7 is pretty good about having basic support for most items, but I have run across a few things that it doesn't have support for. Perfect example: On my board 7 has drivers for the first ethernet connection, but not the second even though the models are almost identical and are both made by Intel.
