I have an AMD Athlon 64x2 5600+ and whenever I use core temp / any other CPU heat monitoring program it never reads anything different then 50-55 C I don't understand why it doesn't get lower or get higher, If I'm idle its usually 51 if I play BF3 and its at 100% for an hour it gets to 55, Doesn't seem right to me, a lot of people say they are getting 25-35 C with stock cooler at idle.

that sucks, seems like you have the same issue as my laptop. The thermal sensor is broken.
What kind of motherboard do you have by chance, how long have you had it ?
Also did this recently start up when you played BF3 ?

Temp sensor is probably broke as was said here ^^.
I have a evga 590 sli and it's been this way for quite some time, after playing rift for a long time it got to a max of 61 and low of 50 or something while not in game.
* btw thats mobo not gpu
