My dad's got a Asus EEE PC 1005HAB, and it is PAINFULLY slow, we tried restoring, etc. to no avail. Whats our best option? More RAM? It's so slow that, in 2 days, if we cant fix it, we're buying a new laptop.

It's just slow when launching programs, and at general times. I've ran CHKDSK and Windows Memory Diagnostic, to no avail. Whats odd is that CPU usage doesn't spike when it slows down, and neither does memory usage.

Hi,

The ASUS Eee PC 1005HAB (Seashell) netbook has an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz (single core, 512 KB L2 Cache) processor, so naturally it will be noticeably slow even when single tasking with common applications.

- What hard drive does it currently have (including its capacity and RPM speed)?
- How much RAM is currently installed?

Adding more RAM and replacing the Hard Disk Drive with an SSD HDD can significantly improve performance.

Also, when you restored the netbook, did you do a clean re-install / recovery install all the latest device drivers?
