Using lcd display to show information

Hi,

If I was to get a 'LCD 9V Independent Power Supply (PM-1028A)', how would I get it to display information?

Are you thinking of a read out for temp, fan rpm and such?

I have a few friends who have programed something like that from a serial port on their somputer, they are eletrical and computer engineers. Personaly unless you know how to do that programing and such, just go with a fan controller if thats what you are looking for.

I'm actually planning to use it on its own to display the status of a home-made burglar alarm using magnetic and infrared sensors. lol. A bit complicated I know! .

Intresting, sorry I dont know any information about that. I can see if i can gather some from friends of mine who have done this in their classes. They did it all using a serial port, i dont know what type of software though.
