DVD-rom drive problems

My problem is that when I put a DVD or CD into my DVD drive nothing pops up. Also, there is no DVD drive in My Computers, Device Management, or the BIOS setup.
I've tried unplugging and replugging the wires but nothing works.

Is my DVD drive corrupt? How do I fix it? Do I need to buy a new one?

Did you try a new cable on it? Yeah, sounds like yours is toast. Get one off Newegg, it's only ~$20

I had your problem and finally bought a new one.your DVD drive lifetime is ended.so it cannot read the data.i think there are some helping ways before buying a new.for example making the interior parts clean.or i think there are somebodies who can repair it for you.

try connecting with new working wires, or else it is totally gone forever.

Not showing up in the bios is your sign to check the cables and/or get a new drive
