Complete computer lock-down and peripheral failure

It's usually recommended to keep the loads below 70C or as low as possible. Even though 70C is still safe. It's possible that the high temps are contributing but there are other factors.

When I'm playing BF3 on my two GTX 560 Ti the top card usually tops out at 75-80C, and I can play like that for hours without a problem.

Using EVGA precision, I had to put my fans up to roughly 75% to keep it at 70C, even then it look like it was still getting hotter; one GTX 460. That to me seems over the top... On Total War: Shogun II

What's your ambient temperatures like? That could also be causing the high heat.

My ambients are around 23C+ which causes my GTX 560 Ti to load at 80C.
