Where is the rest 1 GB?

one possibility is that your computer is installed in a 32bit Operating System. 32Bit which can hold upto 4Gig of RAM but it cannot maximize its RAM to 4Gig.

That link is broken.

Also, if you have onboard video, the RAM is shared.

Avelard, If you have 4GB on a 32 bit system, the most you would see is ~3.75GB

yup, thats what im trying to say thats why i say it cannot maximize its 4Gig Ram, sorry on that im not good when it comes to explaining.

Here is the link again

MSI Global ? Mainboard - 945GCM5-F V2 (FSB 1333)

The surprising thing is when I put 2/3GB RAM, it uses the full 2/3GB but the problem starts when I put 4 GB. it does not use more than 3GB. Why is that? Read on MSI forum that adding a Video Card would solve this problem. may be I will give it a shot.

If you use any 64-bit version of Windows, you will be able to use all of your RAM. If you use any 32-bit version of Windows, then you won't see all of your 4GB.
