Does it give an on screen (OSD) display message at all? Also, it is going from 'green' power led to amber and back? Or just stays green like you said? Also, does work it after "warming up" for a few minutes? I've had old monitors that needed a 1/2 hr or more to warm up...
Without knowing more - I'd guess not enough signal strength, or the signal strength is varying. Check cables and reseat/test Video card. If you exceed your monitor's rated frequency, it will do this - but usually not until you switch into your OS where the mode changes...and most monitors should display a "exceeded frequency" osd along with going 'amber'... sorry I can't offer more suggestions.
Try de-guassing and resetting the pincushioning and the rest?
I've never heard the term 'flyback,' - anyone else?
Oh yeah this post is the wrong section - A moderator will more than likely move it...FYI
