Dead DVD-Rom/Formatted laptop

I have just formatted my laptop but unfortunately my dvd-rom died during the setup process of windows 7 and now i am stuck with an empty laptop. Is it possible to boot windoes 7 and install them from an external usb dvd-rom?

Yes, it should work fine. I've used USB DVD drives to install Windows on netbooks before and it's worked fine.

Joe, I think he meant a physical external DVD drive. But that works, too.

Thank you guys for your help. Yes, i meant a physical external DVD drive but in the end i have used the usb key option
