Building a computer, need help with MOBO and memory

I bought some random MOBO and Memory before and learned I screwed up big time... returned both, and now that I've read into it I need to match everything up.

That is the Processor I have for my computer right now, i've been looking at Asus motherboards and found this:

and the memory to go with it (Manufacture Req for mobo^):

Just looked for feedback before I go ahead and purchase a bunch of crap and lose more money.

Everything matches and look good, but why 16GB exactly? Really no point in anything over 8.

So this shouldn't matter too much as the system will automatically adjust, but just FYI that mobo will not run those memory modules at their standard speed of DDR3 2400 and 1866, respectively.

"DDR3 2800(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066"

The "O.C." next to those speeds means the mobo, fsb, CPU must be overclocked to allow those speeds to be utilized. You should be very comfortable knowing how to do that as it's a little advanced, or I highly recommend going for a cheaper memory set.

DDR3 1600 MHz should be fine and requires no overclocking for your setup.
