Desktop shortcuts

Myself and my wife share our computer(Windows XP OS) and we both use different programs so the shortcuts that are on her desktop I don't necessarily want on mine and vice versa. When each of us deletes a shortcut from our own desktop it also goes from the others too. Is there a way of choosing which individual shortcuts each user has on their desktop?

why don't you and your wife create a second user. that way both of you have your own settings.

How do you mean? We already log in with our own names and such.

as in you have a log in profile and your wife has another.
