Good idea to buy a Refurbished Hard Drive?

Hey. Any thoughts? Found a decently priced 320gb one on newegg, good idea or stick with buying a new one?

ive never taken a chance on one. consider the warranty and have backups and worst case scenario is inconvenience in returning it.

Hard drives are one thing I usually never go with refurbished on. I just don't want to take the chance on a refurbed one. Granted, a new one can have the exact same chance of failure as a refurb, but I'd rather get a new one.

same chances, but no warranty with a refurb. if it breaks, at least you get another that works for no extra cost

You get warranties with refurbs... just usually much shorter of a warranty period.

I will consider a refurb on almost anything except a drive. You have no idea exactly why it was sent back and if it will start to fail on you later or not.

Buying a new hard drive is a much better option. You will get warranty.

You still get warranty with a refurb. You just get less.

By refurbished is the motor swapped? You don't want to buy a drive with a lot of running hours logged on it.
