Closed Threads?

Hey all, I am obviously a newbie here, Nice place btw. I am glad I found this site.

After browsing through forums, I have noticed that only 10-15 threads are open for discussion in each forum, rest are closed. Is it because I am a newbie or you keep threads open for 1 month only?
I have read the rules and understand that some things will change for me once I reach 40 posts, but there were some threads that I wouldn't mind participating in, however they are closed for replies.

Please advice.

Yeah, it would get very confusing when someone would necopost and dredge up a thread that was way out of date. We put this into place to prevent that.

I think one month of no new posts the thread should be deleted to save FTP server disk space

FTP isn't a storage system, it's a data communications method. Second, forums store EVERYTHING in a database file, not individual files in folders like your thinking.
