You use a router to connect to the internet. If you wish to connect the internet to multiple system you can take LAN cable from the router and connect it to the switch. Through switch you can connect to multiple system. This way you can share you internet. But sharing of internet may lead to reduction in the speed of internet.

Doing it right only limits the speed to your wireless connection. Internet isn't fast enough for a gige connection between 2 or 3 computers to bog it down.

A switch is required to share the internet. The main cable is connected to the router and through router the cables are connected switch to share internet. Sharing the internet may slow down the browsing speed.
