so i think i had too little, but temps still seem higher than they should, they are at about 70C now, with no load, the temp inside the case is pretty cool about 29C, on my old board the temps were at about 41C and that is what i would like them at.
Well, the fact you lost 20C by re-applying shows one of a few things.
1: You still have either too much or too little paste.
2: You are not getting a good tight contact between the CPU IHS and heatsink.
3: (Unlikely) Your motherboard is reading temps wrong.
4: The pump is not circulating water properly.
What are you using to obtain these temps? If using speedfan, try out HWMonitor at cpuid.com, don't get the "pro" version.
