do you think it is good to recommend ad block software to prevent malware from being installed? if yes, which do you recommend?

I agree. I have them both installed with my Firefox and Chrome installs and they do a superb job.
I even like Flashblock simply for the fact that it stops videos from playing right away... especially flash ads and such. They won't play unless the site is in your whitelist, or you specifically click on the video frame to enable the Flash content.
