Whats up guys,
I want to build a computer to serve as my home network storage share.

It MUST have raid of some sort... The raid configuration must be easy. So if a drive dies its as easy as poping in the new one and it will rebuild automatically with no problems.

This computer will be on 24x7. running a few programs all the time.

I am thinking an intel i5 sandy bridge.

So what motherboard has EASY to configure raid (also what raid would you recommend?)

And what mobo is pretty much bulletproof for 24x7 use?

I would recommend a hardware RAID controller most software RAID controllers are not very good. I would also get high RPM hard drives and get a server motherboard or even a Supermicro barebones or complete system. Lots of hosting companies use them so they are proven.

I dont want a NAS device because I want to run programs/services on the machine too...

What do you mean by "Supermicro barebones or complete system"?

Order a Dell then throw in an adaptec raid card?

Before any other suggestions get made, what kind of budget are you working with, and what number of drives are you expecting to use?
