First.. Is it better to buy a desktop from a company like dell or hp.. or build your own?
The 999.95$ one: Best-selling Dell Computers Deals | Dell Canada

If I do build my own with the configurations above, what graphic card should I pick to have a comfortable gaming experience playing with high settings (Leagues of legend, Knight online, Wow, runescape...)? Also, would it be possible for me to just change some of the components to get a final price of 800$ instead of 1k?

Thx

Looks like a solid build, but you could cut the price down some with a basic (nice) case; Ditch the SSD and go for a regular HDD (for now); Do you really need a flash card reader? and depending on what GPU you would get, that PSU might not be capable enough. I would suggest at least a 550W minimum for most cards.

Of course people are going to say build. But to be honest that depends on you. I would look at some combo builds if you want to DIY it
for example: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

but also look at basic machines if you want to buy. Newegg.com - CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra 2111 Desktop PC AMD FX-Series FX-8120(3.1GHz) 8GB DDR3 2TB HDD Capacity AMD Radeon HD 6770 1GB Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

I hate Dell desktops, so I am going to say stay away, and I have not had much luck with HP as well. But that is my opinion.

Even for the basic gaming you're using it for you will want a graphics card.
If your new budget is $1,000 then I would say build your own.

You shopping in Canada or the US?
Your Newegg links are the US site, but Dell from Canada...

Combo build

What is a combo built? Buy a computer pre-made and add some components?

Which one should I get. A good one that will last me a long time and will allow me to run games such as leagues of legends at the highest settings

I am shoping in Canada.

You also don't need win7 pro. Save the $50 for a bigger psu.

Noted thanks.

Combo DIY is a do it yourself kit that more or less comes with all the components you'll need.

The graphics card you can get is completely dependent on your budget.
Is your budget $800 or $1,000?

1,000.00$

I don't really like DIY combos because I hate weird looking cases.

Use ncix newegg and or directcanada to get the best deals. Newegg blows as it costs a kidney to ship.

I usually buy from ncix, but use the pricematching and shopbot.ca to save a ton of money.

Where are you anyway? prov/city?

Combos aree NOT DIY Kits. Combos are, you buy a gpu and motherbhoard and save 2 bucks more, than each alone.

Rough parts list:

CPU: $225 Intel i5 2500K
MB: $116 Asus P8Z68-V LX
RAM: $37 8GB Mushkin DDR3 1600
ODD: $18 Sony Optiarc 24x DVD/CD Burner
HDD: $80 500GB WD Caviar Blue
GPU: $230 Sapphire HD 6950 2GB
PSU: $70 Corsair CX600 V2
Case: $90 Corsair Carbide 300R
OS: $110 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Total = $976

This is without doing any price comparison, so you may be able to find these parts cheaper through another retailer.

The combo was in reference to Nukem's post, which was a DIY kit.

But is this total with shipping? Because Newegg really does charge an arm and a leg for shipping to Canada.
