As the thread title suggests, I will be ordering a new system this week to replace my old wooden AMD 64 3700 San Diego single core, So I'm due an upgrade.

And since I have been out of the game for a while, in terms of keeping up-to-date with what components were sweet and a must to get, I will have to ask for assistance from the community - You guys know what's up at the moment and what's up and coming. So anyway:

I have a budget of ~£800

My requirements: to play and record (fraps) gaming content at 1920x1280 res at at least high quality generally speaking to be edited in Sony Vegas for 1080p YouTube content, I also do a lot of music production on Ableton Live but the requirements aren't as demanding as the gaming+frapsing part (usually).

So yes, I would also like to emphasize that when recording I have mics aswell so I'd like to keep the sound down and also if some items are more energy efficient that's also a plus.

Upon initial research I'm leaning towards a i5 2500k/2550k system, I'm not entirely sure what motherboard to get.

I will also need two hard drives,

one hard drive dedicated to programs and operating system (ideally 120-200GB); and the other dedicated to storage of fraps content, music, videos, sound samples etc: (ideally around 750GB - 1TB)

Also, I would probably want to get 16GB of Ram as when I fraps content I would have the game running + my DAW (Audio software) running/recording, and fraps and I imagine it would help out in the long run.

Also on graphics cards I want a single GPU that's generally best bang for buck at the moment also leaning towards high end, preferably with a decent cooler that is also good at keeping low noise.

If you have any other questions about what I need do ask, I will be ordering this week at any time so yeah, thanks.

Just did eBuyer since I prefer shopping their site, but I'd price compare with Aria/Scan/etc...

CPU: £168.5 Intel i5 2500K
MB: £74 Asus P8Z68-V LX
RAM: £86.5 16GB Corsair Vengeance low-profile
ODD: £13 Sony Optiarc 24x DVD/CD Burner
HDD1: £55 250GB Western Digital Caviar Blue
HDD2: £72.5 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue
GPU: £189 HIS HD7850 2GB
PSU: £56 OCZ ZS 650W
Case: £73 Fractal Define R3

Total = £787.50

Started with an SSD for OS/Programs but just couldn't get the price under £800.
Also wasn't sure if you needed to factor in a Windows license, so may need to revamp.

Been checking out buyers review on scan.co.uk
They are owned by BT (British telecom) and 100% legit
BUT recent customer reviews shows that their customer service is on the decline
so I wouldn't buy from them unless the prices are really cheap compared to other places
