I have an old PSU from a 2002-03 Gateway tower with a 300W power supply. I know some of the older towers had 20 pin MoBo connectors, would a modern PSU replace my PSU which is failing on my older tower. Now they are 24 pins if I'm not mistaken, or is there a way I can get one with a dedicated rail for a 20 pin connector? Thanks. Could that cause any issues. I don't plan to go over a 400W PSU. I'm just touching up some parts to get it running again. Thanks.

A lot of smaller sized PSUs actually have the extra 4 pins detachable. Back in the day I would just put the connector on anyways and the extra 4 would just hang over the one side with no consequences. My first 24pin came out of an HP that replaced my first craptastic 430w Raidmax that fried a whole system. I just cut off the extra 4 until later on when I needed them.
