Hi, I've been looking at a mother board that supports DDR3 2600+ is it neccesary to get the memory that it describes or can I go for the cheaper memory like 1333
Thanks for the help

You should be able to get cheaper memory, although, to be sure, you should add a link to the motherboard you're referring to.

can you link to the motherboard?

i think you'll typically find that if a motherboard will support ddr3 memory, you can can put in any ram that is slower than the maximum allowed. that being said, i dont think you should buy a mb that supports ram of that speed. seems gimmicky.

well im only goingto be using intel i5 or maybe a low end i7 so I figured this would work and I could save a few bucks.

Although if this wouldn't work I am open to suggestions.

What is your budget, and what are you planning on doing with the computer?

have you already bought or will you be able to reuse components?

give us this information and we can put something nice together.
