Laptop Black Screen Help

I've had an Acer Aspire 5551 on 64 bit Windows 7 home premium for almost 2 years and recently it has been randomly switching off mid - use. Help?

Switching off the system, or switching off the screen? Is this on battery or AC powered? Any specific program that it does this, or just plain random?
