Can´t boot....detecting IDE drives

ok....i installed an antec psu and everything has been working good.......i installed an old cdrw my friend had and it wouldnt work....so i uninstalled it and when i booted uo it got to the desktop and restarted....got to the desktop restarted......so i shut it off....

then i took out all the psu plugs and reinserted them in better places...............now when i turn on the comp it freezes at the bios saying.....detecting IDE drives......my drive smells funny now......how the heck did uninstalling a cd drive BURN MY HARD DRIVE...or is it burnt.....thanks

Unplug everything except your mobo, video, and a hard drive. Also change your molex connections, use a different one for your hard drive if possible, it's likely that it could be the psu or mobo also.

i just bought the antec 430w yesterday so i doubt it is the psu...

It sound like the drive bit it, does it get super hot if so its fried.
