Will this cpu work?

I have this old machine lying around I want to upgrade for a friend's kid:

HP Proliant ML115 G1

I was going to get this for a cpu upgrade:

[h=1]AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+[/h]Seller site


Not really a "tech guy" so I'd appreciate letting me know if this will
work or if I'm going in the wrong direction here.

Sorry, It's not too difficult.. While technicallly it should work being a 570 chipset... Being a prebuilt system from HP, they may have crippled it with a bios addition.

The unknown from hp is where its iffy, and makes folks worry.

Thanks for the response patonb. Yea you're right. I'm just gonna throw this other am3 socket mobo in there and let his dad get him a decent proc that's not from the stone age
