I have parts coming in tomorrow for my new build (excited!). I went with the Corsair H80 for cooling and was wondering if thermal paste is needed? If the instructions state that I do not need it I was wondering if any one has used it with any of these H series from Corsair?

Thanks!

Here's what I got:

ASUS Rampage III mobo
i7 960
6970 2GB
Corsair Force Series GT CSSD 180 GB
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16 GB!
H80...

it has thermal paste pre-applied good for 1 application.

surprised you went with the EoL LGA 1366 socket though.

It has a pre-applied thermal pad. I've never personally used them. I normally clean them off and use either (AS5 or MX2)
But the pads in most cases aren't bad.

I normally don't use them what else do you want me to say? Corsair Employee's say it's Shin-Etsu. It sure may be. But that's Corsair. Artic uses MX2 for it's TIM pads. It all depends on what you are installing. If you are installing a stock AMD or INTEL fan on a CPU, I'd recommend removing it and using a higher quality TIM. But in this case as I said, "But the pads in most cases aren't bad."

Gotcha, out of budget and don't plan on doing any serious OC so this setup worked out for me. Appreciate the help.
