Toshiba Satelite P305D backlight went out....

I have a Toshiba Satelite P305D and it seems the backlight went out. I was looking for a replacement andnoticed that you can buy a new LCD screen or a Inverter or a backlight lamp. How do I know if it is the LCD screen, the Inverter or the backlight lamp?

Sign a flashlight at the acrren, at a 45* angle. Do you see the Windows desktop? (when powered on, of course)

The backlight is a part of the LCD, you know.

If the back light is part of the LCD, why can you buy it separately? I am checking with flash light now......

It can be replaced, but it gets very tricky to do. I did it once. When I had to replace another, I just got a new LCD. Connect cable, power, screw in, done.

Is the back light that much trouble to replace to where it is not worth saving $120.00? Is it possible it could just be the Inverter?

Well, it does cost ~$20 for the backlight. But just to save me trouble, I buy the screen.

Bought from them twice, both screens still work to this day.
