Ya my current card is just a X-Fi Titanium and the 9mm ports on the front of my case connect to it. Perhaps it just fits in the PCI-E and then the front port connects to it.

Is the front port connected to the motherboard?

I think it may be a plug for a front panel like the one I have:Creative Sound Blaster SB0866 X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro PCIe x1 Sound Card 70SB088600002-8

If you have front port sound, around where your USB and power button are, stick that front cable into the sound card. It's the same philosipy as connecting it to your board. But you are no longer using onboard sound.

Right, and that is what I did for my current computer. New case has Front Port USB/Audio/e-SATA so I guess the connector comes with it.

I don't have all the pieces yet haha. Just theorizing how its going to connect. We will be building these two computers from the ground up, so nothing is attached to the motherboard at the moment.
