PC Games running fast then progressively slower.

After looking on Amazon I think I'll go with the Targus model you suggested but I just wanted to make sure this would take care of the problem. I don't expect this $30 piece to make it run like new but will it cool my laptop enough for continued gaming? Or should I try and shell out some extra cash for something more powerful but not necessarily as quiet?

All you can do is try. There's no guarantee that a $15 one will work better than a $50 one. It's whatever works best for your specific laptop and how much heat is boiling.

Simply said, laptops are not made for gaming. While some are made to game, you aren't going to get maxed out performance.
