Yes, uATX means micro.

This is because that 'u' isn't actually a 'u', it's a 'µ', which is the symbol for the SI prefix 'micro'.

ok thaks for your info, im wanting to replace that mobo with one that has better cpu, ram, and with SATA port instead of IDE. So if i find one that colse to the 9.5x2 board thats in the it should work right. I notice on newegg that micro ATX can be 9.6 X 9.6 and some that 9.6 x 8. I just hope the screw holes line up. Just to let you know im building a lower-level file server using some part i already have.

and i was also looking at building this:

Do you think that build would work with not heating issues?

I have the very same case. The only problem is that it does not have much room for a heatsink. I would go to a little bigger than that case.

Since your board can take 2 RAM sticks, get this: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-4GBXL
Cheaper. Good manufacturer.

If you are just using it for a file server, look at FreeNAS.

Well i really like that case its small and flat, do you think i need to go with a Intel Atom processor/board combo instead?

The RAM i was planing on getting two of them

Ive tried FreeNas but i couldn't figure out how to get it to work!! If i got freeNAS to work can i access it over the internet and not just my LAN?

ok ill look into the freeNAS link you post and try to learn how to use it.

thanks for your help,
tj
